What is one of your favourite Dub albums?

Since it's impossible for me to name my favourite Dub album, I asked for “one of” the favourites.

I will have to mention the very first Dub album I ever got:

Gary Clail “The Emotional Hooligan” on ON-U Sound Records from 1991.

But there are soooo many more.

Which album would you like to mention?

    • Whimsical Music

It's really hard to state “the” favourite dub album, but since you started with On-U Sound Records, then I add Dub Syndicate “Stoned Immaculate”. So beautiful.

      • Afro-Soul Sound

Yes indeed a hard topic, but one of my favorite is not well known Dubbing In The U.K. by Desmond Popsy Benup or (it is a well known one) Aswad - A New Chapter of Dub…In case we talk about modern dubwise/steppa I love the work of Sumac Dub and/or Dubmatix to name a few…

        • Stefanosis

A New Chapter in Dub - Aswad

This album changed my life and connected me to reggae dub on a deeper level. To this day, the delay taps on the vocals still blow me away.

Indeed. I wonder what Mr. Sherwood is up to these days ? Dub Syndicate's work with Ravi Shankar is legendary. Nice to see it on Bandcamp, too.

Haile I, when I was young I was fascinated by Lee Perry's Super Ape, but more interested in Marleys songs in dub untill I discovered Shaka's Dub Master vol.1 K7.
My favourite dub album is Brimstone & Fire by Jah Shaka.

              • Inspirational Sound

I've got Blakamix presents 'Heartically Vol.1' on the turntable at the moment. Picked it up at Dub Vendor in early 2000 and it's all killer. Definitely one of my favourites and one that I keep coming back to. (Mainly vocal cuts though, so maybe doesn't count as a dub album)

I stumbled over Dubhead Vol1 in 1996, that was my start. I still love this compilation.

Dub Albums that I consider great:
                  Upsetters Blackboard Jungle Dub
                  A. Pablo Chanting Dub
Scientists Album They dont want you to hear
                  Disciples For those who understand
                  Dub Syndicate Research and Development
Mad Prof and Shaka New Decade

Edit my Autokorrektur turned "understand" into "unverstanden". Wouldnt that be a great title "For those who unverstanden"

                  • RonTingzDubwise

The ones that brought me into it:

                    * Prince Far-I - Dubwise
                    * King Tubby - Dub Mix Up: Rare Dubs 1975-1979
                    * Mikey Dread - World War III

                    • Inspirational Sound

The Lee Perry Arkology boxset has also been crucial listening for me since about 1998 onwards... Also Superape and Return of the Superape.

Maybe we should open a Lee Perry discussion thread on here
