Bass reverb from King Alpha and other artists

    Dub Flash

Can someone explain to me how to create a “bass reverb” sound which blows me away on a soundsystem session? Examples of what I mean:

    King Alpha “Wizard Dub”:

    Start at 1:00.

Different, but very powerful to my ears:

    Jah Baker “Powerhouse Dub”:

    Start at 1:35.

    Violinbwoy “I Dub Be Lion”:

    Start at 3:45.

There must be some trick to it, because while I use different reverb effects on my releases, they sound nice when listening at home, but you don't hear it on the soundsystem like you hear these tunes.

Generally, I LOVE those reverb effects on bass. It drives me positively crazy. How about you? Discuss. :)

Send the bass through an aux send into a reverb and drive it until it distorts...if it's coming back into your desk on a channel with eq you can sweep the low mid etc. for a bit of extra flavour

You can program your bass, if you don't play it on a real bass, like that try different settings like saw tooth instead of sinus, and add some distortions

Digital FX on bass is easy to create, but my experience is that this "insane bass craziness feeling" on a soundsystem only comes from analog effects. I was once on a King Alpha session and I - figuratively - fainted out of joy that his bass FX gave me. I never experienced something similar with digital FX. I'm basically seeking how King Alpha is doing his bass FX, but I want to top it 10 fold to make people - figuratively - faint. ;)
