Dub-I-nity
This wiki is work in progress.
The Dub-I-nity was a crew of Deeroy, Lu-Jah, King Sound, Prince Rootssky, Tunaman Tse and Heino van Helsing/Switch Docta. Tom Bauminista joined the crew later and formed with Tse and Heino a team called Sound & Vibe Control and later with Heino the Dub Squad selecta crew.
Together they organised the Dub Club during the 1990s and 2000s.
In the early to mid 90s, the Dub Club was organised in the basement of the big Kulturfabrik event area in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. Aside from local DJs, there were also visitors invited, for example Russ Disciple. Part of the club was a little shop area from Deeroy, the predecessor of the Deeroy's Dubstore record shop.
From around 1997-1998, the Dub Club took place in the Drum and Bass club WTF on the second or third floor of a run-down building in Holzmarktstraße 11, Berlin-Mitte. You had to go through some kind of abandoned construction site to get in. It was dark, broken and a bit scary, but when you were in the actual club, it was just wonderful. Legendary parties were held here with guests like The Rootsman, Full-Moon Scientists and many more. Unfortunately, the new owner of the house was not interested in underground music parties and closed the club. TV star “D”'s dance school is located there since the mid 2000s. You can see it from the train window, if you pass by after train station Jannowitzbrücke.
From 1998-1999, the Dub Club moved to the legendary Icon Club in the Cantianstraße nearby the Mauerpark in Prenzlauer Berg, but the attendance got smaller and smaller until eventually the Dub Club simply ended one day and so did the Berlin Dub scene.
It took some time until Dub was re-awaken in Berlin, mainly - but not only - due to the efforts of King David Soundsystem, Peacetime Sound and Dub Flash in the early 2000s.
